Getting to London by Road

There are various routes to the city of London: The M25 encircles Greater London. The M1, M11, M20, M23, M3, M4 and M40 radiate from the capital to the rest of  Britain . The M1 goes north all the way to Leeds, the M11 northeast to Cambridge and East Anglia, the M20 southeast to Folkestone (from where the A20 continues to Dover), the M23 goes south to Gatwick airport (and continues as the A23 to Brighton), the M3 southwest to Southampton, the M4 west to Heathrow airport and Bristol, and the M40 northwest to Oxford and Birmingham. 

Approximate driving times to London: From Cambridge approx 1 hour 30 minutes; Oxford is approx 1 hour 30 minutes; Folkestone is approx 1 hour 45 minutes; Birmingham is approx 2 hours 15 minutes; Bristol is approx 2 hours 45 minutes; Leeds is approx 4 hours.

National Express is the largest scheduled coach service provider in Europe. In the UK the distinctive white National Express coaches operate to 1000 destinations and carry over 16 million customers a year. Eurolines coaches additionally operate to over 500 destinations within Europe and Ireland.

All Eurolines members use modern coaches with reclining seats, large picture windows, washroom facilities and a comfortable amount of legroom. All services are non-smoking.

National Express operates frequent services from both London Heathrow and Gatwick airport, as well as from  London's Victoria Coach Station to Bath. From Victoria the journey time is around 3 hours 30 minutes and from Heathrow around 2 hours 30 minutes.
