Sightseeing & Tours of London

There are various sightseeing tours available in the London region, here are just a selection of them.

  • The Original London Walks - This company offers a number of guides walks around London, they also offer themed tours on a huge variety of subjects. Tours start and finish near a Tube station. The great advantage with this company is there no need to book, you can just turn up at the appropriate station, they are all listed on the website's timetable.
  • Urban Gentry Tours - This company offers you the chance of a customised tailor-made private tour which takes in the best of London's fashion, design and art.
  • London Mystery Walks - This company offers the likes of 'Jack the Ripper' tours, as well as ‘Haunted London'. Both tours take approximately two hours and they depart from Aldgate station and St Paul's station respectively.
  • for self-guided walks, one option is the Silver Jubilee Walkway . This walk covers the Thames' South Bank and much of the City and the West End. The walk covers a total of 23km (14 miles).

Bus and Coach Tours

  • City Sightseeing Open Top Bus - See the sights of London from the famous open top City Sightseeing Bus, which runs from April to the end of September each year. Hop on and off as many times as you like, with stops available at key locations throughout the city. they are all listed on the website's timetable.

Boat and Ferry Tours

Westminster Pier is the main embarkation point for most river trips. From here, there are services east (downstream) or west (upstream).

  • City Cruises- This company offers sightseeing cruises to Tower Pier (journey time - 30 minutes each way), and Greenwich Pier (journey time - 1 hour each way). They also offer a Red Rover day pass for its tours, which allow visitors to hop on and off at four different stops.
  • Bateaux London - provide restaurant and cocktail cruises at lunchtimes and evenings. Glass boats with great views of the riverbank. They leave from Embankment pier.
  • London Rib Voyages - If you are looking for something a bit more adventurous why not try the following, it's a one-hour trip in small, fast, 12-man ribs setting off from Waterloo Pier. The tours cover all the main riverside sights.
  • WPSA - This company offers trips during the summer time going west (upstream). They depart from Westminster Pier upriver to Kew Gardens, Richmond and Hampton Court. Please note you require to buy tickets before boarding.The journey time is 90 minutes to Kew, and three hours to Hampton Court.

Bicycle Tours

  • The London Bicycle Tour Company- This company offers both relaxed tours along the city's rivers, canals and Royal Parks. The tours are suitable for all levels of cycling ability.

Other Tours

  • London Duck Tours- This company offers an an unconventional tour round London on an amphibious vehicle. It departs from Chichley Street (behind the London Eye) driving through the streets of London  taking in the sights of Whitehall, Trafalgar Square and Buckingham Palace, it then drives into the River Thames for a 30-minute cruise.
